 | Today we can share some very exciting news with the confirmation that Lexi Wolfe will be reprising her role as Mary Watson (nee Morstan) to guest star in one episode of the upcoming 8th No Place Like Holmes series. Five years after she last played the role. The episode, taking place across both the 19th and 21st century, sees Mary persuade Holmes to investigate a case he, initially, sees as frivolous and a waste of time. Lexi famously got the role after she initially tried applying for the role of Doctor Watson in 2010, citing that a female Watson could be just what the show needed. |
Of course, she was half-right! Though the good doctor was not to be for her, she did wind up being cast in the lead role of the NPLH spin off "The Mary Morstan Mysteries." She would play the role for 2 series between 2012-2015, as well as appearing in a promo short & 1 episode of No Place Like Holmes (Series 4). The run would also secure her the distinction of the actress to have played the character more times than anyone else in screen history. (With only Amanda Abbington & Kelly Reilly coming remotely close).
On returning to the role Lexi had this to say: "In pure Holmesian fashion, I'm excited to suddenly be poised to make a one-off appearance as Mary Morstan, back where it all began at the beginning of the decade!
