Sherlock Holmes did not seem to care too much for titles or heads of state on occasions but even he could not fail to be a little bit impressed by the latest addition to the Howard Ostrom Collection misc section.

After all, we dont have many two times elected Presidents Of The United States within our archives.

In this July 1st Edition of the popular United States publication "The National Review" President Barack Obama was depicted as the Great Detective with deerstalker, lens, pipe and all  to go alongside "THE INSPECTOR" tag line the magazine had called him. A truly unique one Howard had to have tracked down to include within the burgeoning ranks of the collection.

Thank you Mr President Sir!
Everyone tweet this to him so we can get a RT ;)

Its time to reveal another of the guest stars in the upcoming 1st episode of the 4th NPLH Series "Dawn Of The Red".

The role of the sardonic short tempered suspicious minded P.C Crawford will be played by Keith Ackerman.

Keith describes himself as a mature character actor and has had several roles in feature films including Carlos Gustava and the upcoming "Fakers" movie.

Being the long arm of the law will not be a new experience for Keith who has also previously been cast into Detective and Uniformed officer roles.

Pangborn Clocks into the collection

Clocking into the film section of the "Howard Ostrom Holmes and Watson Autograph Collection" comes Franklin Pangborn who portrayed a Dr.Watson parody "Dr.Watkins" alongside Charles Judels as "Philo Holmes" in the 1934 short "My Grandfathers Clock".

The 17 minute short sees the detective doctor duo investigate a murder at a manor in Phwitterby On Thames, but takes the form of a musical comedy with the majority of dialogue being spoken in rhyme form. What also makes it notable is the use of being shot in colour which was still not the norm at the time.

But here is where we are left with our own mystery to solve, the picture you see alongside the autograph is obviously of Pangborn dressed as Sherlock Holmes - not Watson.

Howard  came across it while reading a 1928 copy of "Movie Makers Magazine" and it reportedly was from a Pathe-Demille production of a Sherlock Holmes film, at this time we are unsure as to whether this film was ever released or any further details from it. But never one to be beaten by a Sherlock Holmes media mystery Howard is continuing his research to try and establish further facts on the situation.

In the mean time though you can see Pangborn in action from this clip for "My Grandfathers Clock".

An unusual new entry into the Misc section of the Howard Ostrom Collection today with
Buddy Ebsen, best known for his role  as Jed Clamplett of the hit 60's CBS American situation comedy "The Beverly Hillbillies".

But Buddys donning of the deer stalker and pipe came later as part of a promo shoot for his role in Barnaby Jones, a CBS detective drama show which ran from 1973-1980.

Q+A with Angela Holmes

Today we have a Q+A session with NPLH Core Cast Actress Angela Holmes who plays the role of Red Headed League member Rebecca Constance.

Q:

You have previously spoken quite publicly about your enjoyment in playing Rebecca Constance, what is it about the character you love?

A: Rebecca is a hugely determined individual who really know what she wants and goes for it! when someone is that driven and determined how can you not have respect for them!, add to that the fact she is smart, ballsy, fast at figuring stuff out and hell bent at getting what she wants from every situation.

Q: Is it ever confusing on set to hear and refer to “Holmes” and not think it is yourself being referred to?

A: This get’s me everytime!  There has been many occasions where I have ended up sitting on Watson’s lap because of it, stroking Miss Blakes hair...

Q: Your character is primarily motivated by money, what motivates you personally?

A: I am personally motivated by love, the world would not exist without it and it’s very important to me. I can understand though ones motivation for money as my Dad is constantly pestering me to get a real job ;-)

Q:  Can you explain a little more on the association between Madeline Chambers and Rebecca Constance? She treats poor Braderick with a confusing degree of contempt, are we going to see you two on a friendlier level than this.

A: Braderick who??.......... oh I am sorry :-p, there’s a time and a place for…how to I put it ‘daft people’…….. just not in my company, Madeline is a funny one. It’s kind of like watching a Sherlock Holmes film back to front while she watch’s it on slow mo forward, you know what is going to happen days before Madeline figures it out but her temper is so how…..shall I put it ‘dynamite’ that everyone’s is too afraid to tell her. So I like to just watch her clogs turn whilst dodging the sparks that fly off of them. Bless her.

Q:What do you feel you have learnt about yourself or as an actress through being in NPLH?

A: Watching Ross and Mike has taught me a huge amount about the power of comic timing, they are just not very funny! #joke

Q: Who do you think is the funniest character?

A:  Braderick Theobald, the drip. If only I could look at the world so lightly.

Q: You are currently working on the 4th Series of No Place Like Holmes, have you got anything else you want to say to fans of the show on what they can expect to see?

A: This series is going to have surprises you never saw coming. It’s like Ross was drinking a bottle of Nando’s extra hot sauce whilst writing it. I’m still not quite sure what’s wrong with him.
~

Thank you Angela, as mean spirited as your on screen counter part clearly... For more info on the actually very lovely Angela Holmes click here to go to her website.

Which Cast member would you like to see have a Q+A Session next? Is there any question you want put to them to answer?  Why not get in touch via the contact form and let me know.

Blakes Second

You would be forgiven for thinking that Miss Blakes only acquaintances are Holmes, Watson, Auntie Pat and their neighbour Mr Phillimore..who we still have not seen since he went to his house to fetch his umbrella.

But just because we haven't seen her female friends does not mean they dont exist in abundance.

But all of this will change in the next upcoming episode with the guest star appearance of Miss Blakes best friend Michelle Rivers who much to Holmes irritation becomes his client.

Miss Blakes fashion and frappucciono "BFF" is to be portrayed by Samantha Rea who has a wealth of commercial, modelling and film experience. This will not strictly be Samantha's first Holmesian outing though as she also previously worked as an Extra on CBS's Elementary.

The first episode in the 4th series is currently still filming and is expected to have a late August release date.
