Douglas Wilmer played the role of Sherlock Holmes in the BBC 1965 series "Sherlock Holmes." Famously, he was not happy with process nor result. Here I narrate an abridged version of his thoughts on the matter from his autobiography "Stage Whispers.

Of course, she was half-right! Though the good doctor was not to be for her, she did wind up being cast in the lead role of the NPLH spin off "The Mary Morstan Mysteries." She would play the role for 2 series between 2012-2015, as well as appearing in a promo short & 1 episode of No Place Like Holmes (Series 4). The run would also secure her the distinction of the actress to have played the character more times than anyone else in screen history. (With only Amanda Abbington & Kelly Reilly coming remotely close). On returning to the role Lexi had this to say: "In pure Holmesian fashion, I'm excited to suddenly be poised to make a one-off appearance as Mary Morstan, back where it all began at the beginning of the decade! Hope you're able to enjoy what we create as much as we enjoy making these homages our favourite consulting detective." Follow Lexi on Twitter here. Filming on Series 8 has started, with the episodes expected to be coming out from late 2019. Today we have a previously unreleased fan Q & A recorded in 2017 in which I answer fan questions to do with No Place Like Holmes & Sherlock Holmes. This was originally recorded to be released upon a YT channel about mysteries/detectives, but as this never transpired, I have decided to release it myself here. |
