Howards Half Of Der Hund

Joining us today in the "Howard Ostrom Holmes and Watson Autograph Collection" is Fritz Odemar. One half of the detective/doctor duo for the 1937 German Film "Der Hund Von Baskerville". Odemar who played Watson was a prolific actor of his time appearing in over 150 films through the course of his career.

I am sure it wont take you dedicated Holmesians a second to decode the title of the film for it is of course an adaption of the well known "Hound Of The Baskervilles" tale .

At this moment in time we are still seeking Bruno Guttners (Holmes) autograph to go alongside Fritz so as always if anyone has any information/owns one and interested in discussing a trade or sale please contact myself or Howard.

Knee banging, debates about Jesus's beard (or lack of according to Miss Blake) and complaints about "wiffly characters" alike make up the contents of the blooper reel from the most recent NPLH Episode Dialysis Murder.

For bloopers from the other episodes be sure to check out the rest the Blooper Reel page.

We have a fabulous new addition to the artwork gallery today created by Alex Funken who has been responsible for some astonishing pieces in past months in the gallery.
Her latest poster design depicts a struggle of good and evil...or Right and Red.  With Holmes Watson and two members of the villainous RHL  Madeline Chambers and Braderick Theobald.

Howser like this one?

New today in the Howard Ostrom Collection  its Neil Patrick Harris, best known for his womanizing antics as Barney Stinson in the hit TV show "How I Met Your Mother" .

In this particular picture you can see Neil Patrick Harris dressed as Holmes alongside partner David Burkta as Watson due to a  mystery themed wedding they were in attendance for.

But Harris's actual claim to Holmes fame and reason for inclusion within the Ostrom Collection is because of a 1993 episode of the teen comedy drama "Doogie Howser M.D.  In this Episode  (The Adventures of Sherlock Howser) Harris as the title character Doogie Howser dresses up and imitates Sherlock Holmes, which as we all know qualifies him under the Howard Ostrom Collection rule book to take his space within the collection.

Who's that Doctor making a Holmes visit?

If you cant turn it into a pun its normally not news, but if I could be serious for a minute(that is about all I can manage) we have a brand new addition to The Howard Ostrom Collection in the form of Matt Smith.

While he is does not play Holmes directly in the Dr Who Christmas Special 2012 he dons the famed deerstalker to impersonate the great detective whilst living in Victorian times. As The Howard Ostrom Collection rules allow inclusions for someone to be Sherlock Holmes whiles being someone else we are very happy that Matt has taken the time to fufil the request for this signing and thus he has joined the hallowed halls of the Holmesian in The Howard Ostrom Collection.

He is of course not the only Who to be a Holmes though as Peter Cushing  would have been able to tell you.

For more Holmes of the small screen be sure to check out the rest of the television section of The Howard Ostrom Holmes and Watson Autograph Collection.

Piloting The 3 Panel Problem

13/5/2013

Today we release a pilot of a potential new concept for the NPLH schedules to be known as "The 3 Panel Problem". The idea being "One Question - Three Holmes Scholars" .

It essentially is a Sherlock Holmes panel show in which you would be invited to submit a question you would like to see discussed to do with the Sherlock Holmes world and then the three members of the panel (In these pilots case myself , Tom Ue and Jonathan Cranfield) would discuss it.

In a way it has similarities to the Great Sherlock Holmes Debates but would be far more concise, to the point, slimmed down and accessible to the time conscious Holmes fans who are interested in learning and listening to discussion on Holmes but do not have time to wade through something as lengthy such as the GSHD .

It would be my intention to bring the discussions to be more focused upon the original canon stories themselves and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.

Questions would also be invited by the viewing public as well as canvassing your own opinions which the best ones could be read out on a future show.

The panel would consist of a regular member or two on rotational basis and would allow for guests to potentially come on board for a session to make up the panel of three.

At this stage the videos are a rough basic embryo of what it could be, but if people like the idea myself and Tom Ue will love to develop it further.

We would love to know your thoughts, got any ideas for questions? Want to be involved in a session? Then let us know
