Today we have a new entry in the Howard Ostrom Holmes and Watson Autograph Collection today with H.Lawrence Leyton.
This signed postcard from 1906 depicts Leyton dressed as Sherlock Holmes for his stage show performance.
This was not the last of Leytons involvement within The Sherlock Holmes world though. 4 years later in 1910 he stepped up to the West End stage to play Doctor Watson opposite H.A Saintsbury's Holmes.
This feat makes him one of the few actors to have performed both roles.
Others notable actors with this distinction include Jeremy Brett, Carleton Hobbs, Reginald Owen and Patrick Macnee.
