Today I narrate Basil Rathbone's poem that he wrote to his beloved dog, Moritz, after his passing. Though Rathbone insists he is no poet, just someone who loves the medium, I really like this piece myself, and feel it is perfectly understandable to anyone who has ever loved and lost a dog. Douglas Wilmer might have been unhappy with how his appearances as Sherlock Holmes turned out on TV, and, as far as he was concerned, the less said of his film reprisal the better, but in the 1990s, despite having retired from acting, he would end up being persuaded to return to narrate some of the stories to tape. This revised feeling would also include his agreeing to pen a tribute story to the character. The tale sees a Scotland Yard Inspector going on holiday to Sussex and meeting a very elderly Sherlock Holmes. With Lance Bulmer as the voice of Mrs. Messanger.
