The Character

Picture
Agent Pinkerton is a character in the No Place Like Holmes Universe portrayed by Philip Hutchinson. He is one of the lead agents of a Shadowy Government initiative, whose power and reach is far greater than most can comprehend.  A man of little to no humour or tolerance for morons, he first appears in the episode "A Study In Secrets" (Series 4 Episode 4), to warn P.C. Andrew Burke from ever mentioning what he has discovered about Sherlock Holmes after he inadvertently reads a computer file which mentions that Holmes is under surveillance of the highest orders.

Instead, Burke tries to warn Holmes and ends up being kidnapped by Pinkerton for his efforts.

Once in interview Pinkerton explains that he is tracking Sherlock Holmes as (incorrectly) thinks that he is in possesion of a time machine. Pinkerton fears that Holmes could be the most dangerous man in the world should he be able to use such a machine, and this fear enables him to recruits Burke as his ally to put a stop to whatever Holmes is up too. ("Dough or Die" (Series 5, Episode 1.) He would become a series regular from the 6th series onwards.
