Ross K Reviews "The Many Watsons"

Today I review Kieran McMullens "The Many Watsons"
"There is always a healthy interest in the actors who have played the role of the world's most famous detective, Sherlock Holmes. But Sir Arthur Conan Doyle also created the world's best known sidekick, Dr. John H. Watson. The men and women who played the role of stalwart ally is quite an eclectic gathering. Here is compiled a listing and discussion of some of the best known people who have played the part of Watson from the earliest days of silent film to the action heroes of the 21st century".

Ross, I reviewed this book for our society's journal a couple of months ago and although I liked the information provided and the author's obvious love of his subject I found the book an absolute disaster due to the multitude of misspellings, grammatical and punctuation errors, missing words and lack of consistenct in the way the information was presented. I contacted Steve Emecz and he admitted the book had been rushed into release without editing to raise funds for "Save Undershaw". A noble concept on the part of publisher and author but a complete letdown of the book buyer. Steve indicated that the text would be edited and re-loaded into MX's print-on-demand system so it seems you must have got the later edition. Cheers, Bill

You gave it perhaps a higher rating than I would have, since the book is just a re-hash of what is already on the internet, and didn't really tell me anything I didn't know. I totally understand it being thrown together for "Save Undershaw" and applaud that campaign, but that just cause shouldn't be used as an excuse for a marred product in my opinion. I would like to know the source for H. Kryle Bellew as a Watson, requested information from author but received no reply. Anyhow dispute disagreeing with it, I enjoyed your review,
and yes I noticed Sherlock Mickey & the gang on the table, nice touch XD!
